Hey y’all! I’m back from my much needed cruise! If you follow me on IG then I hope that you’ve been enjoying my stories from the trip. We had a blast and of course I made a few things that I knew I could only wear on a cruise…like Mara McCall!
This pattern has been out for a few years but it wasn’t until I saw several ladies last Christmas really turn up the heat wearing this dress. At first glance on the envelope I couldn’t picture anyone with my frame wearing this -but that’s the beauty of social media. It has made it easier to see and share what others are doing!

I made view B which the model is wearing on the front envelope. For the most part this was a really quick sew. It’s probably 4-5 major seams but the outcome is gorgeous. I cut a size 14 which I thought would be perfect but in actuality I took more off the sides of the skirt. Probably another inch on each side because I wanted it to be TIGHT.
I kept my size 14 top because I needed the coverage. And because my fabric was stretchy it didn’t matter that I had two different sizes on top and bottom. It all worked out.

My fabric is probably a one off. And I don’t mean that to sound boastful or non cooperative. But I truly mean that. Sometime over the Summer months I purchased a mystery box from Fabric Mart.
Side note: I highly recommend doing this at least once. You’ll always find something great and the value for what you get is a steal. It’s 10 yards of random fabric that they send to you for $20. That’s it. No catch. Lol.
Anyway, this was a burn out stretch mesh fabric. It wasn’t terrible to sew with but I made sure my lady bits were decently covered. I didn’t line it but I figured with all the spanx I was wearing that I would be okay. My guess was accurate. And the rest as they say, is history.
Until next time, xo!
