Hey friends! I know that this is the second Mimi G pattern I’ve shared in a row, but this was not on purpose.
Actually, I made this dress for a funeral. I know, what a way to bring the mood down. But it’s true! My Great Uncle passed away, and I did not have a single black Summer dress. Enter…sewing!

I already planned to make this dress in black linen, but for a completely different occasion. So when I heard of the passing, I moved my project up a few weeks.
Stressful much? Actually, not really. And maybe that’s because I didn’t give the reason much thought. I powered through and 2 days later I had a dress to wear.

So about the Jessica dress… umm, where do I even begin. It has a full skirt, a sweetheart neckline and spaghetti straps. And oh my, is it flattering to my shape.
I’m not shaped like a flat piece of Sheetrock. I have hips, curves, cinnamon rolls and the whole sha-bang! And I guess the reason I’m in such awe of this pattern is because I didn’t have to make any adjustments for my bust or my height -two rarities.

And let’s discuss my tortie buttons by Each to Own in Australia. These are laser cut from the couple’s home “down under.” And even though it took a while for them to get to my address (strictly Covid related), they came right on time, just how I dreamed them, and worked perfectly for this dress!

All in all, the Jessica dress is absolutely flattering from every angle and if I could, I would make 5 more. Don’t tempt me, though! Until next time, TTYL!
OK I’m looking up those buttons. Love them!

Sorry you had to make this dress for a sad occasion, but you look amazing wearing it! I love the tortoise shell buttons. They really take this dress to another level!
